Welcome to my journey from my first inklings toward international nursing to my adventures on the continent of Africa! My name is Lena and I started my Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in September of 2016. It has been a challenging, but rewarding journey through school and now I am about to embark on my biggest adventure yet: to finish my degree with an internship in Ghana, West Africa this September to December 2019.

The purpose of this blog is to engage readers from a variety of interests to my experiences. This may mean that certain writings may be of keener interest to you than others. I would also just like to clarify that my perspective of my own experience is mine and not necessarily reflective of my colleagues or instructional faculty. I hope you can enjoy with me the beauty of the Ghanaian people in culture, food, language, and health.

Goodbye Canada!

If you read the first six or so chapters of the book of Joshua, you will find that Moses repeatedly told Joshua to “be strong and of good courage because the Lord is with you and will fight for you.” This has been the theme of my preparation season for flying to Ghana to finish my nursing degree.

I have not once doubted that the Lord has led me faithfully so far and as I am about to board the plane leaving this beautiful province and country I call home, I have perfect peace.

The Lord is with me.

I wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you who have expressed your exuberance for me, those who are praying and have committed to pray, and those who endlessly showed encouragement and support! You all know who you are and you are the reason I’m still excited about going. I am so excited to tell you about all my adventures, but know that I will miss you terribly and that your life, whatever it consists of right now and beyond, is just as much of an adventure! Love you all!
